DIY Day!

DIY Day @ ASPTL

Welcome to DIY Day on ASPTL! Every Thursday, we get together to share our newest DIY projects.

I'm really flexible about what constitutes a DIY project. A furniture makeover, an outdoor project, an indoor project, some new artwork...heck, even a great recipe could qualify as DIY, right?

Basically, any project that you've been working on. I want to see it! And so do my readers. We love projects!!!

Gussy'd Up Waterproof Make-up Bag

This week's prize comes from Maggie Whitley of {Gussy has a lot to sew}. She has a wonderful online store and an Etsy shop both full of vintage-inspired wallets, clutches, make-up bags and pouches.

Ruffle Gus Wallet - Organic Mum

Her beautiful bags are sassy and colorful and most of them are finished with the signature Gussy-ruffle. Who doesn't love a ruffle? I have my eye (both of them, actually) on the Ruffle Gus Wallet in green damask and the Ruffle Gus Wallet in pears.

The winner of today's giveaway will receive a $40 credit to Gussy's online store or her etsy shop!

Good luck and let's get this DIY Day started! If you have something to share, then just add your link below. Here are a few guidelines to help things run smoothly.

  1. Add a permalink to your specific post, not the main page of your blog.
  2. Include a short description of your DIY project in parenthasis after the name of your blog. For example, The Orange Nest (knitting beach towels).
  3. Link to this party from your post so everyone can get in on the fun.
  4. Visit, visit, visit and comment, comment, comment!
  5. Double-check to make sure your link works and goes to the right page so it doesn’t get deleted! If you come back and see your link is gone, re-read these rules and try again. No worries!

Now let's see those projects!!!

  75. Hi Kimba! Your 'contact me' section said that this was the best way to contact you with a question. I am having a spray painting quandry/problem/emergency and knew you'd be the best person with advice.

We were given a set of wooden adirondack style rocking chairs and table for our back porch (serious handmedown quality). The paint has been chipping away and we're having a cookout this weekend, so I want to fix them up so people don't have to walk around w/hunter green paint chips hanging off their rears. The only problem is that I don't have anywhere inside to paint or store them (my husband refuses to let our cars sit in the driveway overnight) and it has been RAINING for days and days. It rained all morning today, but should be dry the rest of the day. I'm running out of time! Do you think I can go ahead and do it tonight even if the wood hasn't dried completely? The reality is that if they can look half way decent through the weekend, if they need to be touched up or even completely redone later, I'm fine with that.
THANKS for your amazing spray paint advice (in advance)!
